ayearofdeepcreek home-sick-alien The newest pool, the one that’s sandbagged below the womb, and the contemplation pool were not bad during the day when I went! But yeah, def spent a most of the say in the creek.Always hot in the summer home-sick-alien … Not so bad today and this weekend but pushing 100 by early next week. Not great for soaking during the day : but great in the early morning and evening. But the heat is great for creek swimmin’ - for skinnydippering and floating in the stream. I love it there hot or cold
home-sick-alien that rainbow bridge is lovely, no? love the symbolism from the counterculture to today, the rainbow flag etc. I’ve never taken that way, it’s much longer. It’s on the PCT - some folks hike in to the springs from down creek, from the dam, and it is I think something like 6 miles each way. All flat, not much elevation change, so that makes the PCT from the dam where you cross this bridge a bit different than the mountain approaches - the Bowen Ranch / Freedom Trail or the Bradford Ridge trail. Of course you could also hike down the PCT from points up creek, like Lake Arrowhead, but that’s an even longer hike than 6 miles. Check out online resources to the springs for these different trails/approaches if you want to explore other options. studentreader ‘s deep creek guide is one of the most useful, he is behind deepcreekhotsprings the tumblr. i know some older hikers who prefer the longer 6 mile approach, because their legs can’t handle the climbing up and down the hills/mountains. Personally, myself, while I’ve done a bit of hiking on the PCT and it is wonderful and beautiful, when I want to get to the springs I usually go to Bowen Ranch, as it is quickest, or in the winter I come in from the Arrowhead side so I don’t have to cross the creek when I arrive. Hope this helps…….u going creaking again soon?
Yeah! I want to but I’m worried about the heat. Is it scorching there right now? Thanks so much for the info!!!
